As a Sheetmetal Fabrication Apprentice at Star Metal, you’ll build the essential skills needed to thrive in the light metal fabrication industry. 

Our program is designed to equip you with the knowledge and hands-on experience to excel in custom fabrication projects. 

Join our Rising Star Sheetmetal Fabrication Apprenticeship Program and you’ll receive specialised training designed specifically for the sheetmetal fabrication industry. This foundational knowledge will equip you with the skills and understanding needed to succeed in both the technical and operational aspects of the high-demand trade.

Here’s what you can expect…

  • Learn to read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication plans, and welding symbols, so you can accurately translate designs into finished products.

  • Master the selection, cutting, shaping, and preparation of metals for fabrication projects, ensuring precision and efficiency in your work.

  • Train in industry-standard welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, with a focus on quality, safety, and structural integrity.

  • Gain hands-on experience using fabrication tools like grinders, saws, and presses, along with equipment like CNC plasma cutters and welding rigs.

  • Learn the step-by-step processes of assembling metal components, from tacking and positioning to final welding and finishing.

  • Understand safety protocols, material tolerances, and quality checks to ensure every project meets industry standards and client expectations.

  • Develop the ability to troubleshoot and adjust during fabrication to address design changes, material challenges, or unexpected issues on the shop floor.

By the end of the apprenticeship, you'll have the confidence and capability to contribute to a fabrication team, produce high-quality work, and take pride in being part of the metal fabrication trade.
